So I'm thinking of moving to Tumblr.
"Thinking" is the keyword here, as I've never liked Tumblr and I think it'll be hard to track where my artwork is going, but deviantART has become so insufferable recently that I'm actually seriously considering operating from there from now on.
I mean...this website though. When I first joined it was easy to find a lot of great artwork, and my sister and I would browse for hours, and that was how I discovered great artists and world-builders. Now the algorithm has changed and I don't bother browsing anymore since all I'm going to get is soft porn and pretty, vapid artwork. Not to mention this
hideous new interface dA has got going.
Now we have that promoted group that literally turns artwork into spam, and you'll receive it unless you pay for a premium membership. That is unethical as shit.
The webcam widget, though I never really used it, was something many people used to add character to their profile and as a conversation starter. They got rid of it entirely, and gave a dumbed-down version to premium members.
This site is starting to look like it doesn't deserve my time. I don't want to use a website that abuses other people's artwork or makes it hard for its members to tolerate it unless they're a premium member.
Obviously all that fucking money isn't going toward improving this place!
So I'm thinking of moving to a different website altogether, and putting my art up there from now on. The best candidate that I know of is Tumblr.
I may even move
The-OC-Consortium over there as well, once I figure out how to use Tumblr to its fullest potential.
But yeah...If this site keeps pulling crap like this I doubt I'll be the only one with this thought.
In other news, I've actually been working
a lot on Ragman's story, and it's development had come to the point where I can finally deem it potentially publishable (as opposed to being a story that doesn't have the substance it needs to hit the shelves). Hell, I'm writing it even, and it's going great! I imagine it turning out like Neil Gaiman's
Stardust, where it's a heavily-illustrated novel. My original concern was that I wasn't clever enough to actually write Ragman's story, but I've since proved myself wrong!
I'm soooooo tempted to show it off, but I think I want to figure out this issue with websites first...
Bluh.
